After 50 years of friendship I still email a retired Wisbech postmaster and his family. He befriended me in 1961 as I was a very young yank stationed at RAF Sculthorpe. My God how thngs have changed in both countries in 50 years. No more ha pennys and most people around now were not even born or were children in 1961.

I retired here 20 years ago after many years in various countries. I am now a widower with no family nearer than New Zealand. I am tidying up a lot of 'bits and pieces' including a half dozen parchment documents from Charles I to George II time and from families in Wisbeach,Tuddenham and area. Phelpes,Berney,Case,Oakley are some of the names and wax seals.
One, from 1751, includes a list of about £7000 worth of mortgages from many villages.
I found the parchments in a Kuwaiti junk shop in the 1960's!!

For the moment, I am just searching for some quite places where to spend my future holidays, together with my new born child, Michael and my very best friend Mary. I want to stay away from the crowdy towns...just places where to rest, places where my child can develop his artistic skills.
